Reflections Showcases at Tokyo Game Show, Announcing Oculus Touch, Vive Support


Tokyo, Japan - Today began the first day of the 2016 Tokyo Game Show, where we are honored to to be showcasing Reflections! This is our first time in a public event showcasing the title with the Oculus Rift CV1. Up until this point, our Early Access supporters have been able to play with a base implementation of Oculus Rift support, but we are excited to announce that we will be supporting Oculus Touch and HTC Vive for the final release of the game, and will be rolling out those features to the Early Access players slowly over the coming weeks. This will be adding to our existing support of the Oculus Rift HMD, as well as full support for controls using Tobii Eye Tracking. We are also exploring additional platforms for VR and will provide more information as we can confirm platform support.

Now that PC virtual reality has be released to the public in the first run with Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, it becomes more important than ever to answer some challenging questions about how to interface with controls in a VR environment. Since Reflections is a game made to control in a more traditional gameplay environment, we have to answer some challenging questions about movement and other controls. Currently, the game operates with what people often refer to as "sliding feet," but we're looking for new options to explore that can give the gameplay a more unique experience and provide maximum comfort, and this includes teleporting options which we think might work well in . Since Reflections is a less combative game, there's more room to experiment and we would very much like to find a solution that works well for the majority of players, or provide options that accommodate users with different expectations and needs.

We have been working with VR Since before Broken Window Studios was even a company, dating back to the summer of 2013 when we were working with the original Oculus DK1. We see virtual reality as central to our company's mission, and are committed to blazing trails in the area of virtual reality controls to prove the most seamless and natural experience possible. Reflections is a great game to play with touch controls, due to the emphasis on human scale interactions and manipulating objects in the environment.

We will be providing more information about what features we will be incorporating into the Reflections VR Experience over the coming months! We are expecting Reflections to be in its final release version by early 2017.
